Nissan Canada Head Retires, Prompting Changes in the Americas
Nissan today announced that Allen Childs will retire as president, Nissan Canada, following two decades with the company. He will be replaced by Christian Meunier, currently president, Nissan Brazil, who will become president of Nissan’s third largest market in the Americas. Continue reading
Nissan to Build $2 Billion Plant In Aguascalientes Mexico
The announcement comes as the United Auto Workers union is developing plans to once again try to organize transplants in the United States, where Nissan has two other plants. The UAW has been unsuccessful in previous organizing attempts, and its lack of international alliances with other unions is a decided disadvantage.The lack of exports from UAW organized Detroit Three plants is preventing the creation of middle class jobs in the U.S. – now clearly the issue in the upcoming presidential election. U.S. Bound Infiniti Models Damaged in Japanese Port; Nissan to Reopen Some Japanese Plants. V6 Engines a Problem
Nissan says that about 1,300 Infiniti vehicles were damaged in port in Japan due to the earthquake and tsunami. However, this equates to a few days’ supply for the luxury brand, which is heavily dependent on Japanese imports for most of its premium vehicles. Continue reading
