Chronology
• July 21, 2020: Honda determined that a FMVSS noncompliance existed and decided to conduct a non-compliance recall (NHTSA ID 20V-438).
• June 11, 2021 Honda received report of the issue involving a previously repaired vehicle and began to investigate
• August 16, 2022 Honda worked with Magna to investigate and analyze the issue.
• May 3, 2023 Honda and Magna had been unable to recreate the issue thus far. Honda was informed by MAGNA that it had concluded its participation in the investigation. Honda continued to monitor the market and investigate and analyze the issue.
• April – December 2024 Honda conducted analysis of the issue by monitoring the market and observed a decrease in incidents.
• April – September 2025 Honda continued to investigate the issue by analyzing design specifications.
• January – June 2026 Honda continued to investigate and analyze the cause of the issue.
• June 25, 2026 Honda determined that a defect related to motor vehicle safety and FMVSS noncompliance existed and decided to conduct a safety and noncompliance recall.
• As of June 25, 2026, Honda has had 1648 warranty claims, no reports of an injury, and no reports of death related to this issue from July 21, 2020 – June 25, 2026.
