The BYD Group, a massive China-based electric vehicle company (1211 HKG) announced the launch of a three-year strategic partnership with FC Internazionale Milano (Inter), becoming the club’s Global Automotive Partner. It’s the latest foray of Chinese EV companies into established markets. Inter claims more than 533 million fans worldwide, ranking second among global football clubs for fanbase growth over the past five years. In China, where BYD is headquartered, the so-called Nerazzurri are estimated at 154 million fans. In South America, a key growth market for BYD Group, Inter claims ~90 million fans, helped by a history of the many South American champions who have shaped the club’s and soccer’s history. BYD is increasingly forming itself as a technological leader in New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), with more than 4.2 million vehicles sold in 2024, a 41% increase compared to 2023. BYD has sold more than 2 million units sold in H1 2025, double-digit growth year-over-year.
