The original Shelby GT350 introduced in 1965 established Mustang’s performance credentials. Early in development of the GT350, it was decided a high-revving, naturally aspirated V8 engine would best suit a track-focused Mustang. This runs contrary to FOrd’s EcoBoost strategy that uses turbocharging to raise output on small displacement engines.
