Fire Chronology
• In July 2025 Volvo Cars received the first report indicating potential overheating of HV-battery cell outside the USA. An investigation was initiated to review the customer symptom and a possible root cause. The investigation was escalated to the Critical Concern Action Process (CCAP). The issue was concluded as potentially critical and the Critical Concern Management Team (CCMT) initiated a technical investigation to conclude customer symptom, risk assessment and root cause. Decision to start preparation and release and monitor was taken at the same time and a safety notice was released.
• On the December 26th, 2025, the CCMT team took the decision to release a safety notification recall as it was judged as an increased risk towards motor vehicle safety. Volvo Cars can confirm there are no warranty claims or field or service reports, related to this defect in the U.S.
