In the ongoing pickup truck marketing battles that continues to see significant moves from Japanese makers, Nissan has added a new Texas Titan trim package on XD and Crew Cab 4×4 and 4×2 models. Basically a “special chrome grille” and 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels comprise the Texas package that is now available for the first time in 2017 on two Titan and four Titan XD Crew Cab grades, including 4×4 and 4×2 drive configurations. The addition of the Texas package is part of the ongoing expansion of the Nissan full-size pickup lineup as it enters its second year of production. Once the roll-out of all Titan cab, bed, powertrain and grade level configurations is complete, the family will cover about 85% of the total light pickup market.
Titan XD Crew Cab is offered with a choice of two engines – a Cummins 5-liter V8 Turbo Diesel, rated at 310 horsepower and 555 lb.-ft. of torque; and a 5.6-liter V8, rated at 390 horsepower and 394 lb.-ft. of torque. The Titan half-ton is available with the a new 5.6-liter V8. Diesel equipped models have an Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission; V8 gasoline engine equipped versions use a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Every Texas Titan comes with what is claimed as “America’s Best Truck Warranty.” It provides bumper-to-bumper coverage of 5-years/100,000-miles, whichever comes first. The warranty is available on all 2017 Nissan pickups. Vehicles covered by the new warranty – which also includes basic and powertrain coverage – include all Titan V8 gasoline models and diesel and V8 gasoline versions of the 2017 XD models, including both 4×4 and 4×2 drive configurations, in Crew Cab and Single Cab models. Pricing ranges from $36,000 to more than $56,000 for gasoline versions.
