The Executive Committee of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG unanimously agreed to a resolution for submission to the Supervisory Board at its meeting on 25 September  2015 under which a new contract as Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG for a term until 31 December 2018 should be concluded with Martin Winterkorn. It most certainly will pass.

Winterkorn became Chairman of the Management Board of Europe’s largest automaker on 1 January 2007, and his contract was renewed  once before it was due to expire 31 December 2011.

VW is in the midst of an ambitious expansion designed to make it the world’s largest automaker by surpassing Toyota by 2018.

“Together with Professor Martin Winterkorn at the helm we will continue on our successful path of recent years and systematically implement the goals of Strategy 2018,” Berthold Huber, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG, said.

Above all, decades after he first drove a car, Zino still revels in the sound of the exhaust as the throttle is blipped during a downshift and the driver’s rush that occurs when the entry, apex and exit points of a turn are smoothly and swiftly crossed. It’s the beginning of a perfect lap. AutoInformed has an editorial philosophy that loves transportation machines of all kinds while promoting critical thinking about the future use of cars and trucks. Zino builds AutoInformed from his background in automotive journalism starting at Hearst Publishing in New York City on Motor and MotorTech Magazines and car testing where he reviewed hundreds of vehicles in his decade-long stint as the Detroit Bureau Chief of Road & Track magazine.
