The Environmental Protection Agency and the National Institutes of Health will announce tomorrow a contest sponsored by EPA and NIH to develop a personal, portable sensor system that measures air pollution and a person’s physiological response to it. Awards will be given as part of a competition called the My Air, My Health Challenge at the Health Data Initiative Forum III: The Health Datapalooza.
The Health Data Initiative (HDI) was launched in 2010 by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as the Community Health Data Initiative. It’s a public-private collaboration that encourages innovators to use health data to develop applications to raise awareness of health, air pollution and health system performance and encourage community action to improve health.
