Ford Motor is recalling 8,000 vehicles in North America for a defective parking brake. The recall includes 2015-2016 Ford Explorer, 2015 Taurus and Flex models, as well as Lincoln MKS and MK. In these vehicles, the parking brake might not engage fully, which is a compliance failure with FMVSS 135 regarding brake systems.
Ford in a statement said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue.
Dealers will inspect the vehicle and, if necessary, replace the parking-brake control assembly at no cost to the customer as is required by U.S. regulations
