Head Lawyer at VW Group Out in latest Emissions Twist

Michael Ganninger, 54, the Head of Legal Affairs of the Volkswagen Group and a 20-year veteran, is leaving the beleaguered company, allegedly at his own request. Ganninger was employed by Volkswagen in 1995. He was Head of Legal Affairs since 2002.

Manfred Döss, 57, succeeds him. Döss,  has held senior legal positions in the automobile business since 1996. He joined Porsche Automobil as Head of the Legal Department in 2013.

“Special thanks are due to Ganninger for his considerable commitment over the past few months during which the diesel issue was the prevailing topic and we were able to rely on his specialist competence,” said Matthias Müller, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft.
