The Jaguar Heritage Challenge Series. Good Idea?

AutoInformed.com

The Challenge should be great fun for spectators, especially if the racing is tight.

The Jaguar Heritage Challenge Series will be during five weekends at tracks in the UK and Europe. The new race series, run in partnership with the Historic Sports Car Club, is open to pre-1966 Jaguar models, ranging from MkI and MkII sedan to C-type, D-type and early E-type cars.

The question is do you really want to run these valuable and in some cases rare Coventry classics, risking damages?

The races are run in five classes: Jaguar XK-series cars, pre-1966 saloon models, C-type, D-type and XKSS, and two separate E-type classes. The Heritage Challenge is said to be the first time such a diverse group of historic competition Jaguars will be assembled as part of a race series.

Here’s the lineup:
• May 2-4 at Donington Historic Festival
• May 16-17 at Silverstone International (GP Circuit)
• July 11-12th at Brands Hatch Super Prix (GP Circuit)
• August 7-9 at Nürburgring Oldtimer Grand Prix
• August 29-31 at Oulton Park Gold Cup

Entrants and drivers can visit a dedicated web page for the new series at http://www.hscc.org.uk/jaguar-heritage-challenge for full details.
