McLaren Automotive has released details of the new McLaren 570GT ahead of its debut on the 18th fairway at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this Sunday. The car is the first example of the recently-introduced 570GT to receive the attention of McLaren’s custom team of craftsmen and designers. They have added styling, feature and material enhancements – such as an Electro-Chromic Roof – that are all destined to become available through the MSO Defined portfolio.
“This is the second consecutive year that McLaren Special Operations has used the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance to demonstrate our capabilities on Sports Series cars,” said Paul Mackenzie, Executive Director of McLaren Special Operations.
There’s a new MSO Exhaust system. Manufactured from titanium and 30% lighter than the standard stainless steel system, the MSO Exhaust takes from the 675LT project It’s described as “a progressively richer and more characterful tone more as the revs rise than the standard exhaust.” The MSO Exhaust’s heat shields are finished in a golden titanium nitride tint, visible through the rear air ducts. They naturally change color to a blue/purple as the system heats and cools through its cycle.
Externally, the 570GT by MSO Concept is finished in Elite ‘Pearl White’ paintwork. Complementing the Pearl White finish is an MSO Piano Black package. It’s said to deliver a deep gloss black finish to exterior details including the wheels, side skirt, front and rear and door inserts, as well as interior details.
About Ken Zino
Ken Zino, editor and publisher of AutoInformed, is a versatile auto industry participant with global experience spanning decades in print and broadcast journalism, as well as social media. He has automobile testing, marketing, public relations and communications experience. He is past president of The International Motor Press Assn, the Detroit Press Club, founding member and first President of the Automotive Press Assn. He also brings an historical perspective while citing their contemporary relevance of the work of legendary auto writers such as Ken Purdy, Jim Dunne or Jerry Flint, or writers such as Red Smith, Mark Twain, Thomas Jefferson – all to bring perspective to a chaotic automotive universe.
Above all, decades after he first drove a car, Zino still revels in the sound of the exhaust as the throttle is blipped during a downshift and the driver’s rush that occurs when the entry, apex and exit points of a turn are smoothly and swiftly crossed. It’s the beginning of a perfect lap.
AutoInformed has an editorial philosophy that loves transportation machines of all kinds while promoting critical thinking about the future use of cars and trucks.
Zino builds AutoInformed from his background in automotive journalism starting at Hearst Publishing in New York City on Motor and MotorTech Magazines and car testing where he reviewed hundreds of vehicles in his decade-long stint as the Detroit Bureau Chief of Road & Track magazine. Zino has also worked in Europe, and Asia – now the largest automotive market in the world with China at its center.
