MI Proposal 1 on Roads, aka Prostitution 1, Resoundingly Defeated. All Politicians involved Need to Resign Now

AutoInformed.com

Republican Governor Rick Snyder (at wheel) and his legislative outlaws need to ride off into the sunset.

Michigan voters rejected Proposal 1 by a whopping 80% to 20% margin. Yes, that’s right those numbers are correct and won’t need a recount because this was a political rout. Prop 1, with alleged road repair funding and a very real large sales tax increase, aka Prostitution 1 here, was the darling of Republican Governor Rick Snyder and the Republican dominated State Legislature, although they had plenty of help from Democrats. They came up with this Micha-sham in a Lame Duck session last December with members ousted  by voters working on the irresponsible measure.  (How Not to Fix Crumbling Roads. Proposal 1, Largest Michigan Tax Increase in Decades, is Pork Ridden Debacle)

All the politicians involved in this pork-ridden fiasco should resign immediately – including local government officials who subsequently supported this debacle because they would benefit from the pork payoffs resulting from a complex series of almost a dozen contingent supporting bills – because they are clearly not representing the voters and, above all, are clearly and arrogantly out of touch with the people.

This was the largest – by far – rejection of a proposed Michigan constitutional amendment, and the loudest – by far – message telling, no shouting at, legislators that they are out of touch with the taxpayers since Michigan’s revised state constitution went into effect in 1963.

  1. Just where does the millions of dollars that pour into the Michigan Highway Fund go. Every day of every week through-out the year Michigan Motorist pump millions of dollars into the fund via the Gas Tax. That’s a constant 24/7.

As I have called for an independent accounting of these funds by a formed citizen watchdog committee. Lets just follow the money trail and see where it leads. If the leaders of Michigan will not agree to this independent accounting of the Michigan Highway Fund budget then you would have to assume that some shades of gray area funding was happening.

Stop picking on the great Michigan Motorist who in fact “turn the wheels of commerce” throughout the state. For a politician to favor an economy killing bill like an increase in the Gas Tax is political suicide.
