Volker Holzmeyer (41) is joining Porsche Motorsport North America as the new President and CEO as of January 2022. He succeeds the previous incumbent Daniel Armbruster (53) whose new role will be announced soon. The two managers will work together in the coming months to take a look at the specific features of the market, the customers and processes involved in the central sales and marketing of Porsche race cars and spare parts in the USA and Canada.
Porsche Carrera Cup North America is the most recent Porsche racing program here, starting in 2021, reflecting 30 years of Porsche racing. The one-make race series in the United States and Canada (eventually now that baseball has just returned to Toronto) uses the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup N3 racing slick on the road and street race courses on the continent. As with all national Carrera Cups worldwide, Porsche, through Porsche Motorsport North America (PMNA), will manage the single-driver per-entry series. Porsche has 21 one-make championships competing in 31 countries on five continents.
The International Motor Sports Association is the official sanctioning body. It also manages as scrutineering and steward on-track activity. Brian Blocker of PMNA is the Series Manager. Click for Race 1 – 2021 Porsche Carrera Cup North America at Watkins Glen International
Volker Holzmeyer has widespread experience in motorsports, in addition to sales, marketing and after sales. Born in Germany, he joined Porsche in 2004. In 2019, he rose manager of motorsport sales in the Americas and Asia regions. He is now leaving this position to take over this new role. Holzmeyer knows the North American market, having been responsible for the international marketing of race cars, in addition to business development in the motorsport sector. His position as product manager for all vehicles used in Porsche Club sport events is also helpful.
“North America has always been of tremendous significance to Porsche. Having the right person in charge there to manage and steer our largest motorsport market, therefore, is very important,” said Fritz Enzinger, Vice President Porsche Motorsport.
“Daniel Armbruster has steered PMNA through a difficult time with perfect precision, and we are extremely grateful to him for having done that. Motor racing is changing fundamentally these days in terms of the approach, the technology and accessibility. And that requires visionary thinking as well as a steady hand. Volker Holzmeyer is equipped with everything needed to cope with the upcoming challenges facing the entire sport and indeed Porsche as well, “ said Enzinger.

Above all, decades after he first drove a car, Zino still revels in the sound of the exhaust as the throttle is blipped during a downshift and the driver’s rush that occurs when the entry, apex and exit points of a turn are smoothly and swiftly crossed. It’s the beginning of a perfect lap.
AutoInformed has an editorial philosophy that loves transportation machines of all kinds while promoting critical thinking about the future use of cars and trucks.
Zino builds AutoInformed from his background in automotive journalism starting at Hearst Publishing in New York City on Motor and MotorTech Magazines and car testing where he reviewed hundreds of vehicles in his decade-long stint as the Detroit Bureau Chief of Road & Track magazine.
