The 570S Spider with winning bidder at Elton John Argento Ball.
A McLaren 570S Spider auctioned earlier this year at the Elton John Argento Ball has been presented to the successful bidder by Amanda McLaren, daughter of the company’s founder Bruce McLaren, at a Pure McLaren driving event in North America. Special ‘Blade Silver’ 570S Spider raised £725,000 – four times retail – at an auction to benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
The convertible was hand-finished in metallic ‘Blade Silver’ to honor the 25th anniversary of the charity foundation. Funds raised at the Argento Ball, which took place at Elton John’s Berkshire home in the UK in June 2018, are helping to provide many young people with information about HIV, the means to test themselves and access to medical care, if required.
More than 200,000 people have been infected with HIV in the last year alone and Sir Elton John commented, “We are thrilled with the success of the Argento Ball. Funds raised can make a real impact for our work with young people.”
Additional features on the 570S Spider includes a Luxury Pack comprising power-adjust heated memory Sports Seats, power-adjust steering column, soft close doors and an 8-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Audio System. 10-Spoke Lightweight Wheels in Stealth finish, a Sports Exhaust, red brake calipers and seat-belts in MSO Defined Indian Red are also fitted.
The winning bidder was able to enjoy driving their new car during the Pure event at Thermal Club, in CA, USA. Part of the global Pure McLaren driving program, the event provided owners and prospective owners with the chance to experience the performance of McLaren sportscars and supercars in the controlled environment of a race track. Pure McLaren offers a range of experiences, ranging from a half day course with driving coaching sessions in a McLaren 570S or McLaren 720S, to a full day on a circuit in a McLaren owner’s personal car.
The 2018 Pure McLaren calendar will conclude with an event in Bahrain on Nov. 27-28. More information can be found at: http://cars.mclaren.com/experiences/pure-mclaren.
