The McLaren Production Centre is now set up with all tooling in place for the new model.

The McLaren Production Centre in Woking, England is now in the pre-production phase for the Sports Series 570S and 540C Coupé that go on sale this fall. These are so called affordable models, if your definition of attainable encompasses ~$200,000.

The Sports Series has covered in excess of 500,000 testing kilometers, on race circuits and roads, including the extreme heat of the Arizona and Nevada summers, the Arctic conditions common of northern Sweden in the winter and, of course, the unpredictable British weather.

“This final phase brings all testing together for the first time in a package that is representative of the cars our owners will be taking delivery of,” said Andreas Bareis, Executive Director Quality at McLaren Automotive.

The McLaren Production Centre is now set up with all tooling in place for the new model. It will see the integration of the Sports Series into the production line along with the Super Series, underlining the flexibility of the MPC if all goes well. When the full family has been launched, forecast at the end of 2017, the range is should more than double the annual volume of McLaren.

He has automobile testing, marketing, public relations and communications experience. He is past president of The International Motor Press Assn, the Detroit Press Club, founding member and first President of the Automotive Press Assn. Above all, decades after he first drove a car, Zino still revels in the sound of the exhaust as the throttle is blipped during a downshift and the driver’s rush that occurs when the entry, apex and exit points of a turn are smoothly and swiftly crossed. It’s the beginning of a perfect lap. AutoInformed has an editorial philosophy that loves transportation machines of all kinds while promoting critical thinking about the future use of cars and trucks. Zino builds AutoInformed from his background in automotive journalism starting at Hearst Publishing in New York City on Motor and MotorTech Magazines and car testing where he reviewed hundreds of vehicles in his decade-long stint as the Detroit Bureau Chief of Road & Track magazine. Zino has also worked in Europe, and Asia – now the largest automotive market in the world with China at its center.
