“The GP ICE RACE is spectacle for everyone. It is therefore with regret, that we have had to cancel this iconic ice racing event. The current warm weather system did not leave us with another option. I want to thank our fans and supporters. These have been some tough weeks, but we will now look forward to a reunion at the Grossglockner,” said Ferdi Porsche, Managing Director of the organizer GP ICE RACE.
“After meticulous preparation and excellent ice conditions at the beginning of December, the weather change during the last weeks reduced the existing ice reserve below the minimum required, and did not allow for further ice production. Despite intensive work on alternative solutions, it quickly became apparent that the necessary conditions for a safe and smooth running of the event were not in place,” a statement just published said.
