GM UAW Members Ratify New Contract

GM Chair and CEO Mary Barra said in a statement this morning “We are pleased our team members have ratified the new agreement that rewards our employees, protects the future of the business and allows us to continue to provide good jobs in communities across the US. We can now move forward as one team doing what we do best – delivering great products for our customers and winning together.”

AutoInformed translation: GM UAW members will be working likely be working mandatory overtime or  extended shifts during the holiday season. “I’m here to tell you that contract bargaining isn’t our team members have ratified an agreement,” said Gerald Johnson GM executive vice president Global manufacturing and Sustainability in a video update on the contract negotiations this morning.  “ we believe this agreement sets the course for the next four to five years for us in manufacturing. I want to thank the entire bargaining. Committee and our Labor team. They work very hard to help us reach an agreement and to ultimately get to ratification. It was not easy work, but it was important work because it impacts the livelihood of our entire team. The end result is an agreement.”

“We have a bright future. I just plan to hear about how we can all come together as one team and do what we do better than anyone else. Safely built quality internal combustion engine and EV vehicles for our customers. They are counting on us. So we will work aggressive schedules.”

“Thank you for everything you do for the company, for our customers and for one another. Please stay safe,” Johnson concluded.
