The Spaniard from Barcelona followed Spain’s World Cup win with his fifth victory of the season, following previous wins at St. Petersburg, Barber, The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach and the Detroit Grand Prix. Palou, the reigning champion and four-time NTT IndyCar Series champion now holds an 83-point margin in the championship fight as the Chip Ganassi Racing Honda driver goes for his fifth title in just six years. Paulo 83 points is more than a race’s worth of points over David Malukas in the series. There are six races remaining this season.

The lightning and rain thwarted the IndyCar series plan to have the World Cup final as the television lead in for the race on Sunday. The Nashville results have Honda leading rival engine maker Chevrolet in the manufacturers’ standings, 983-938. The 2026 NTT IndyCar Series now goes west for the OnlyBulls Grand Prix of Portland from Portland International Raceway on August 9th.
