Hagens Berman, which filed the first class-action lawsuit against Volkswagen AG’s U.S. manufacturer and distributor, says it is expanding its national suit alleging that the automaker deceived consumers by using software to cheat emissions tests, allowing its “Clean Diesel” vehicles to emit nitrogen oxides (NOx) at illegal levels. At least three more class action suits have since been filed by other firms that see a fee bonanza in the making. More will follow.
The firm claims it has a thousand inquiries from owners of VW and Audi diesel cars. It is continuing to expand its lawsuit and is seeking information from affected owners in all 50 states. Hagens Berman has filed another diesel recall lawsuit with clients from more than 20 states on Monday 21 Sept. 2015 It expects to have cases on file for every state by the end of this week, based on what it claims was an unprecedented response from the first filed complaint.
