More Stellantis Startup Ventures Coming

Ken Zino of AutoInformed.com on More Stellantis Startup Ventures ComingStellantis N.V. said today it will host the Stellantis Startup Awards on Wednesday 13 July 2022, at 2:30 pm CEST, 8:30 am EDT. The terse statement aimed at investors said, “The digital event will introduce seven key technology partners that will accelerate Stellantis’ transformation into a sustainable, mobility tech company and advance its Dare Forward 2030 ambitions.”

Stellantis, the mega-merger of  FCA and PSA,  claims it will be “the industry champion in the fight against climate change, reaching carbon net zero emissions by 2038.” The sweeping, difficult plan is aspirational – similar to other global automakers as the deadly effects of climate change worsen. Carlos Tavares, Chief Executive Officer, will share the Company’s latest strategic moves.  (AutoInformed Dare Forward 2030 – Stellantis Survival Plan Unveiled.  More below.)

As part of the leadership mantle Stellantis wants to wear, it wants 100% of sales in Europe and 50% of sales in the United States to be battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) by the end of this decade. “We plan to have more than 75 BEVs and reach global annual BEV sales of 5 million vehicles by 2030,” said Carlos Tavares during an investor’s conference and web broadcast from Amsterdam last March.

The crux of the strategy, as AutoInformed understands it, is for Stellantis to survive it must operate under the “frame of mobility” set by governments and societies, particularly the EU and US. Tavares has previously noted the “traps” of moving too fast. “Who can afford to let a big car company fail,” he once asked? That will be up to governments or states as Tavares calls them. How much in incentives for consumers – and for how long  – will be needed to spur electrification?

Details for accessing the digital event are available under the Investors section of the Stellantis corporate website at www.stellantis.com. A recorded replay will be accessible after the event at www.stellantis.com.

About Ken Zino

Ken Zino, editor and publisher of AutoInformed, is a versatile auto industry participant with global experience spanning decades in print and broadcast journalism, as well as social media. He has automobile testing, marketing, public relations and communications experience. He is past president of The International Motor Press Assn, the Detroit Press Club, founding member and first President of the Automotive Press Assn. He is a member of APA, IMPA and the Midwest Automotive Press Assn. He also brings an historical perspective while citing their contemporary relevance of the work of legendary auto writers such as Ken Purdy, Jim Dunne or Jerry Flint, or writers such as Red Smith, Mark Twain, Thomas Jefferson – all to bring perspective to a chaotic automotive universe. Above all, decades after he first drove a car, Zino still revels in the sound of the exhaust as the throttle is blipped during a downshift and the driver’s rush that occurs when the entry, apex and exit points of a turn are smoothly and swiftly crossed. It’s the beginning of a perfect lap. AutoInformed has an editorial philosophy that loves transportation machines of all kinds while promoting critical thinking about the future use of cars and trucks. Zino builds AutoInformed from his background in automotive journalism starting at Hearst Publishing in New York City on Motor and MotorTech Magazines and car testing where he reviewed hundreds of vehicles in his decade-long stint as the Detroit Bureau Chief of Road & Track magazine. Zino has also worked in Europe, and Asia – now the largest automotive market in the world with China at its center.
