The rain challenged IndyCar* double header weekend in Milwaukee ended up being a double win for Honda on Sunday, which ended up taking both. Honda Racing Corporation took its 12th manufacturers’ title. Then, Golden Boy Spanish driver Alex Palou won the completion of both the Snap-on Makers and Fixers 250 on Sunday at the Milwaukee Mile after the Saturday race was delayed because of rain. “Incredible,” Palou said. “I owe everything to this team. So proud of this team. It is great to have another championship and ready for the next one.” Palou, 29, also became the youngest driver in series history to win five titles. A.J. Foyt was 32 when he earned his fifth championship in 1967. Only Foyt, with seven, and Scott Dixon, with six, have won more IndyCar Series titles than Palou.
Honda during 2026 won on all four circuit types in IndyCar: road courses, short ovals, super-speedways and street circuits. Four Honda-powered drivers won across the varying driving and team strategy masteries during the season. However, Chevrolet powered drivers currently occupy six of the top ten positions. Pato O’Ward has three wins, Christian Lundgaard two, Joseph Newgarden two, and Rinus Veeky without any wins is 10th with 364 points.
On road courses and short ovals, Alex Palou took the win at Barber and Nashville. On super-speedways, Felix Rosenqvist found victory lane at the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500. And on street circuits, Honda was dominant in 2026.
Honda swept all six street circuit races in 2026, claiming 15 of 18 possible podium positions and leading more than 90% of street circuit laps. All five Honda-powered teams have both led laps and scored a podium finish on street circuits this year, with the wins going to Alex Palou (St. Pete, the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, Detroit), Kyle Kirkwood (Arlington and the Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington DC) and Marcus Ericsson (Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham).
For the 2026 season still underway with WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca hosts the Mission Foods Grand Prix of Monterey this weekend, Honda has thus far scored 10 victories, five podium sweeps, and 13 pole positions. Nevertheless 13 of 15 Honda-powered cars contributed points to the manufacturers’ championship win Honda. Honda also won 17th Indianapolis 500 this year, with Felix Rosenqvist emerging victorious in the closest ‘500’ finish in the race’s 110-year history.
