Mazda Gold Cup Shuns Michigan

Third Generation Mazda Miata MX-5 2005 North American Operations, aka MNAO,  today announced the names of dealerships winning the 2015 Mazda Gold Cup award. This is the highest honor a Mazda dealer can receive for their dedication to customer satisfaction and new vehicle sales.

There is nary a Michigan dealer on the list – strange since Mazda was part of a successful joint venture with Ford Motor in Flat Rock, MI for decades. The message for people living in Michigan – shop another brand.

CEO of MNAO, Jim O’Sullivan said, “Every year, Mazda recognizes the top-performing dealerships for the best sales and service experience in the industry, and this year’s recipients truly showcase dealerships that continue to make Mazda proud. This is a great achievement, highlighting each dealer’s focus and dedication to both their customers and the Mazda brand. We congratulate each and every one of this year’s Gold Cup recipients.”

He is past president of The International Motor Press Assn, the Detroit Press Club, founding member and first President of the Automotive Press Assn. Above all, decades after he first drove a car, Zino still revels in the sound of the exhaust as the throttle is blipped during a downshift and the driver’s rush that occurs when the entry, apex and exit points of a turn are smoothly and swiftly crossed. It’s the beginning of a perfect lap. AutoInformed has an editorial philosophy that loves transportation machines of all kinds while promoting critical thinking about the future use of cars and trucks. Zino builds AutoInformed from his background in automotive journalism starting at Hearst Publishing in New York City on Motor and MotorTech Magazines and car testing where he reviewed hundreds of vehicles in his decade-long stint as the Detroit Bureau Chief of Road & Track magazine. Zino has also worked in Europe, and Asia – now the largest automotive market in the world with China at its center.
