OTA – More Horsepower for Mercedes EQE, EQS Customers

Mercedes-Benz said in Atlanta today that EQE and EQS customers in North America can now opt for more performance with the new “Acceleration Increase On-Demand upgrade,” available as an Over-the-Air update (OTA) This applies to Sedan and SUV models. The upgrade raises the vehicle’s output by as much as 80 horsepower.

Mercedes claims that this improves acceleration from 0-to- 60 mph by as much as a full second. The upgrade is available to customers in the “Mercedes me connect Store.” There are several options – a one-time purchase for the lifetime of the vehicle or monthly and yearly choices. Welcome to the world of web marketing and instant customization. This being Mercedes, it is perhaps pricey at $60-90 a month or $3000 lifetime or maybe not.

Acceleration Increase is offered only to Mercedes-Benz EQE 350 4MATIC and EQS 450 4MATIC Sedan and SUV customers in the U.S. and Canada. On eligible EQE models, it boosts output from 288 to 348 horsepower – a 60 horsepower increase – to deliver up to 1.0 second quicker acceleration from 0 to 60 mph (SUV). Applicable EQS models receive an additional 80 horsepower for a total output of 435 horsepower. This provides 0-60 mph acceleration in as little as 4.5 seconds (Sedan). These enhancements are achieved without impacting the vehicles’ electric range, Mercedes claimed.

Customers can download Acceleration Increase to their vehicle in the Mercedes me connect Store online at shop.mbusa.com. The Over-the-Air (OTA) integration does not require a trip to a dealership.

A variety of other On-Demand enhancements are available for an assortment of models in the Mercedes me connect Store. These include Beginner Driver and Valet Service Modes, AMG TRACK PACE, Navigation and expanded Navigation features, and Remote Engine Start.
