Nissan Recalls Juke, Infiniti QX, M Models for Gasoline Leaks

No fires have been reported, according to Nissan.

Nissan North America is recalling almost 80,000 cars and sport utility vehicles because a fuel sensor in the fuel rail can leak after it was improperly tightened during assembly. Heat and vibration subsequently cause the sensor to loosen and leak fuel. Affected are 2011 and 2012 model Juke, as well as Infiniti QX SUVs and M sedans.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration filing just posted inexplicably lists the recall under “diesel storage tank assembly.” Like diesels the Nissan models involved use a high pressure, direct injection fuel system. Unlike diesels, gasoline is the fuel used in the advanced technology engines.
