December New Vehicle Sales Projected at 1.7m, SAAR 18m
If accurate, December will end the biggest year of U.S. new-car sales ever seen, with total light vehicle sales of ~17.5 million, up 6.1% compared to 2014 totals. The previous high was 17.35 million units in 2000. Continue reading

Subaru Beats All Time US Sales Record
Worrisome though are the remarks of Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, president of Subaru-maker Fuji Heavy Industries at the Tokyo Motor show last month. Yoshinaga told Automotive News that Subaru will cap maximum annual global production at 1.03 million vehicles. This can increase to 1.1 million vehicles using overtime. No new factories are foreseen. Is this a bluff – while Subaru talks to political entities about a new plant, or a recognition that the business is cyclical and today’s good times are limited? Continue reading

GM Global Vehicle Sales at 7.2 Million Vehicles through Q3 2015
The global sales leadership race between General Motors and Toyota, Volkswagen and General Motors remains too close to call as GM sold 7.2 million vehicles during the first nine months of 2015 a decline of -3%. Toyota Motor’s global sales for the same period totaled 7.498 million vehicles, off -1.5%, but still enough to best Volkswagen Group at a flat 7.43 million vehicles. Continue reading
