The Detroit Auto Show today said that Racing Day will take place on Tuesday, 20 January 2026. “Racing Day presented by the Detroit Grand Prix will rev up the Detroit Auto Show at Huntington Place in Downtown Detroit on January 20, with motorsports taking center stage as part of the growing collaboration between two of Detroit’s most iconic events,” the Auto Show claimed.

The main show floor stage at Huntington Place will be open and accessible to all fans with tickets to the Detroit Auto Show on January 20 for Racing Day activities. In addition to the on-stage programming, the Detroit Grand Prix display areas will have race cars, special vehicle displays, and fan-favorite photo opportunities such as the “Winner’s Circle,” with trophies, hats, and champagne-bottle props, along with a Firestone racing tire-wall installation. Visitors can also explore the Detroit Grand Prix’s history through photos and other storytelling touches.

Beyond Racing Day, the Detroit Grand Prix will be existent throughout the public days of the 2026 Detroit Auto Show (January 17–25). With displays on both the concourse and the show floor, the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear will have video content and historical imagery.

The Detroit Grand Prix is a 501(c)3 organization and a subsidiary of the Downtown Detroit Partnership. The event will return to the Streets of Downtown Detroit, 29-31 May 2026. The 2026 Grand Prix will include the Chevrolet INDYCAR Grand Prix with the cars of the NTT IndyCar Series, the sports cars of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the rising stars in INDY NXT by Firestone.
