Mercedes-Benz GLE350 and GLE450 Recalls for Fire Risk

Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) is recalling 2021-2022 model year GLE350 and GLE450 vehicles (the so-called 167 platform). A 12-volt ground connection under the driver seat may not be secured properly, resulting in the ground connection overheating. This might increase the risk of a fire.

The driver will not receive a warning due to the nature of the failure, according to recall documents made public today by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Dealers were told of the pending voluntary recall campaign on 15 December 15 2023. Owners will be notified of the voluntary recall campaign before 6 February 2024.

Dealers will inspect and secure the 12-volt ground connection as necessary, free of charge as required by US regulations. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed 6 February 2024. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov about NHTSA recall 23V835.
