Pagenaud in a Honda Wins Inaugural Grand Prix of Indianapolis
Starting fourth, Pagenaud avoided a multi-car crash at the standing start that eliminated his Schmidt Peterson Motorsports teammate, Mikail Aleshin, and fellow Honda driver Carlos Munoz, when pole-qualifier Sebastian Saavedra stalled at the line, resulting in an eight-lap caution period to begin the race. At the fourth race of the 2014 F1 season in Shanghai, Renault – which provides the Lotus team’s V6 hybrid power unit, the Energy F1 2014 – was written in Mandarin (雷诺). It didn’t help. New NASCAR Rules Announced. Let the Cheating Begin
NASCAR has a disjointed TV package split among networks, and a blue-collar fan base that remains severely hurt by the ongoing effects of the Great Recession and growing income inequality, which is leaving empty seats in its stands. Worse, in the one area that NASCAR can control, the racing is hardly that. Competition is limited, passing difficult or rare, and cars strung out. Ho-hum. Continue reading
NASCAR Buys Faltering Iowa Speedway
Just before the Thanksgiving holiday, NASCAR said it purchased Iowa Speedway. The agreement for an unspecified amount departs from the usual France family practice of gathering racetracks under the semi-independent International Speedway Corporation that controls Daytona, Homestead, Talladega and Watkins Glen among other premier venues. Nissan Le Mans Electric Racer Unveiled in Japan
Nissan the latest version of its electric racecar – Zeod RC – debuted today at the headquarters of Nissan’s performance arm, Nismo, in Yokohama. The initial prototype show car of the electric racer was revealed at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hour endurance race.
