The engine-compartment fuel line may have been installed incorrectly and could chafe and eventually leak fuel leading to more fires. Ford Changes Software to Stop New Escape and Fusion Fires

Ford Motor Company will change computer software to stop fires on 2013 Escape SUV and Fusion sedan models- both redesigned for 2013. At the end of November Ford recalled two of its best selling vehicle lines equipped with a 1.6-liter engine – both redesigned for 2013 – without having a fix after at least 13 fires were reported. Ford Recalls 2013 Escape for Engine Fires, the Third Recall So Far

This is the third major recall on the best-selling Ford crossover SUV, which received a redesign for the 2013 model year, its first major revision since its 2001 model year debut.
