In essence, the Fit take the place of the Civic, the car that put Honda on the map in the U.S. decades ago, but in subsequent generations grew so much larger that it is no longer a sub-compact. Sonic Boom or Bust? Chevy Prices New Car Starting at $14,495
GM is now exploring just how much it can charge for a small car in an area where, typically, Detroit Three products needed roughly a 20% discount (or more) compared with facing Japanese competition. In this case there are, notably, the Honda Fit, Nissan Versa and Toyota Yaris all priced roughly the same as Sonic, from companies that up until now are the acknowledged small car leaders. Sonic also faces stiff competition from the upstart Koreans – Hyundai and Kia – whose competitive models significantly under price it. Continue reading
AutoNation May Sales Down 15% Due to Japanese Shortages
AutoNation, Inc. today announced that its retail new vehicle unit sales in May 2011 totaled 16,347, a decrease of 15% as compared to May 2010. Toward the end of May, AutoNation delivered its eight millionth vehicle, an automotive retail industry first, at the grand opening of Honda of Dulles. Continue reading
