Penske’s Newgarden, Pagenaud One-Two in 2019 IndyCar

Newgarden gave team owner Roger Penske his 16th series championship, including the fourth in the last six years. Chevrolet Wins Accident Marred Portland Grand Prix

It was a Black Weekend for professional motorsports with the death of Anthoine Hubert, who died on Saturday during a horrific accident involving several cars after he went off course at Circuit Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium. Penske’s Will Power Wins Pocono Demolition Derby

It was only a couple of miles into what was supposed to be a 500-mile race at the Pocono tri-oval, when a bonehead move by Takuma Sato eliminated five contenders. The restart 45 minutes later pretty much determined the outcome in a thunderstorm shortened race that purported to be professional racing. Thus far Sato has not been penalized for causing a life-threatening accident. Continue reading →

Josef Newgarden Wins IndyCar Iowa 300

The victory allowed Newgarden to extend his IndyCar series points lead to 29 over Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi, who finished sixth in a Honda. Newgarden lapped Rossi on Lap 185, although Rossi battled enough to make it racing for a few laps. Continue reading →

Honda Fastest in Practice for Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix

Driving the No. 27 NAPA AUTO PARTS Honda, Rossi navigated the bUmPy street course at Belle Isle Park in 1 minute, 15.1367 seconds (112.595 mph) to record the best lap among the day’s three practice sessions. As an aside, Belle Isle would have reverted to an urban slum garbage dump if not for racing sponsorships and some deft behind the scenes maneuvering by the Penske family. Continue reading →

Chevy Beats Honda at Rainy IndyCar Racing “Rubber” Match

The winning run was made possible – but by no means assured – when a red flag halted the race on Lap 65 of the scheduled 70-lap contest as an IRL safety crew cleaned up debris from an a race ending incident between Team Penske teammates Will Power and Helio Castroneves, who made crashed in Turn 2 of the difficult 14-turn, 2.35-mile street circuit on a restart. Honda Prevails in Rain Soaked and Sunny Houston Races

Honda-powered rookie Carlos Huertas won Saturday’s opening race of the Grand Prix of Houston “double header” Verizon IndyCar Series race weekend, taking his Dale Coyne Racing machine to an unexpected victory in an 80-lap event that featured constantly changing weather conditions.

Simon Pagenaud and Mikhail Aleshin turned a tough loss in Race 1 into a podium in Race 2. The Schmidt Peterson Motorsports teammates finished 1-2 in the 90-lap battle on the 1.634-mile, 10-turn temporary street circuit. Continue reading →

IndyCar Returns to Detroit for Chevrolet Belle Isle Grand Prix

Chevrolet today announced a multi-year agreement with the Penske Corporation and IndyCar to bring professional motorsports to the Motor City for the first time in four years.
