Chevrolet claims that 3492 Bolt EV owners in the United States have driven 4,570,300 miles in total as of 2 April 2017 since the crossover vehicle went on sale in December 2016.
These all-electric propelled miles by Chevy’s calculation have resulted in more than 175,000 gallons of fuel saved – based on the average EPA-estimated 26 mpg for 2017 vehicles in the U.S.
The Bolt EV has an EPA-estimated 238 miles of range. Bolt EV is currently on sale in California, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Washington and Virginia. The Bolt EV will be available nationwide by the summer 2017.

Bolt EV appeared at “select” Chevrolet dealerships in late 2016, joining the Chevrolet Volt and Malibu Hybrid vehicles. Aside from the Nissan Leaf, key competitors include the BMW i3, Ford Focus Electric, Kia Soul EV, VW eGolf and Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric – all of them footnotes in U.S. sales charts.
“Our early Bolt EV customers are proving the crossover’s functionality, flexibility and long-range capabilities daily,” said Steve Majoros, director of marketing, Chevrolet cars and crossovers.
Following research, GM and LG showed the Chevrolet Bolt concept at the North American International Auto Show in January. 2015. Chevrolet confirmed in February of 2015 at the Chicago Auto Show that the Bolt EV would go into production at GM’s Orion Township, Michigan assembly plant in late 2016.

GM’s outsourcing to Korean LG began in 2007 with LG Electronics supplying the vehicle communications module for GM’s telematics system OnStar. Another LG company, LG Chem, and GM have a long relationship since it was chosen as the sole supplier of battery cells for the first-generation Chevrolet Volt, which launched in 2010.
