Honda (NYSE: HMC) today confirmed the sale of 15 million Honda Accords* in America, noting a major milestone for the country’s best-selling car during the past 50 years. (footnote1 below **) The 15 millionth Accord, a 2026 Accord Sport-L Hybrid, was purchased from Norm Reeves Honda in Cerritos, Calif. by Andrea, a 26-year-old insurance agent from Southern California. Her new Accord replaces a 2017 Accord Sport that was passed down by her father, whose first vehicle purchase in 1997 was also a Honda Accord. Andrea’s younger sister, Alondra, also purchased a new Honda Accord from the same dealership that day. The 24-year-old chose a 2026 Accord Sport-L Hybrid and is now the owner of the 15,000,001st Honda Accord sold in America.

“On behalf of Honda associates here in America and worldwide, I want to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the 15 million customers who purchased an Accord, including Andrea and Alondra,” said Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Accord, together with Honda dealers nationwide, we are committed to building on the quality, reliability and enduring fun-to-drive spirit of Accord for the next 50 years.”

Today, the 11th-generation Accord makes up 25% of all retail mid-size car purchases in America (footnote 2).More than 50% of Accord sales during the past three years are hybrid-electric models. Accord is also America’s most popular mid-size car with Millennial, Gen Z, first-time and multicultural buyers (footnote 3).

He has automobile testing, marketing, public relations and communications experience. He is past president of The International Motor Press Assn, the Detroit Press Club, founding member and first President of the Automotive Press Assn. He is a member of APA, IMPA and the Midwest Automotive Press Assn. He also brings an historical perspective while citing their contemporary relevance of the work of legendary auto writers such as Ken Purdy, Jim Dunne or Jerry Flint, or writers such as Red Smith, Mark Twain, Thomas Jefferson – all to bring perspective to a chaotic automotive universe. Above all, decades after he first drove a car, Zino still revels in the sound of the exhaust as the throttle is blipped during a downshift and the driver’s rush that occurs when the entry, apex and exit points of a turn are smoothly and swiftly crossed. It’s the beginning of a perfect lap. AutoInformed has an editorial philosophy that loves transportation machines of all kinds while promoting critical thinking about the future use of cars and trucks. Zino builds AutoInformed from his background in automotive journalism starting at Hearst Publishing in New York City on Motor and MotorTech Magazines and car testing where he reviewed hundreds of vehicles in his decade-long stint as the Detroit Bureau Chief of Road & Track magazine. Zino has also worked in Europe, and Asia – now the largest automotive market in the world with China at its center.
