Ford Motor (NYSE: F) said this morning in Dearborn that 2023 US sales totaled 1,995,992 for a mild 7% increase when compared to 2022 on a year-over-year basis. Its best-selling vehicle, the Ford F-Series, posted sales of 750,789, up 15% compared to the previous year. It outsold the second place Chevrolet Silverado by ~200,000 trucks. Gas- and diesel-powered F-Series sales were up 12%, while the F-150 Lightning EV and F-150 Hybrid achieved record sales for the year – up 55% and 41%, on relatively small 2022 baselines. The F-150 Hybrid sold 50,103 during 2023. A refreshed F-150 is due to launch later this month. Ford has both the first and second best-selling hybrid trucks in America, with Maverick Hybrid sales totaling 52,361 trucks, a 67% gain and more than half of Maverick’s total sales in 2023. Total Maverick sales at 94,058 were up 26.5%.
Ford sold 1,081,777 trucks and vans in 2023 – up 13%. However, car sales at 48,636 during 2023 are a footnote in Ford’s US sales lineup. Toyota Motor sold 1.58 million Trucks in North America during 2023. (AutoInformed: Toyota North America December 2023 Sales Up 7%)
