Hyundai Motor Company said today that an IONIQ 5 recorded a record-breaking total elevation change of 5802 meters over a +4900 km run across India. The publicity route began in Umling La in Ladakh, through steep Himalaya mountain passes, to the finish in the coastal region of Kuttanad, Kerala. “We are incredibly proud to see the Hyundai IONIQ 5 create history by achieving the Guinness World Record™ for the Greatest altitude change by an electric car,” said Unsoo Kim, Managing Director, Hyundai Motor India.

What was called a standard production car built off of the Hyundai Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) was equipped with a high-capacity 72.6 kWh battery. The record attempt was organized by Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) and driven by a professional team from Evo India.
