IndyCar – Honda Powered Rossi Dominates Road America

Roadkill Nights – Drag Racing Back on Woodward Avenue

Aston Martin On GTE Pole, Ford 2nd, Corvette 3rd at Le Mans

Aston Martin Racing is on the GTE Pro pole position for this weekend’s 87th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It’s 60 years since a famous 1959 win led by team director John Wyer with a DBR1 driven by Roy Salvadori, and a man who would kick Ferrari’s “ass” many more times, notably with Ford GTs a few years later – Carroll Shelby, again working with Wyer. Josef Newgarden in Penske Chevrolet Wins Texas 600

The second caution occurred when James Hinchcliffe slid wide into the Turn 2 wall on Lap 219. The final exasperating yellow came when the cars of Scott Dixon and rookie Colton Herta touched while battling for third place in Turn 3 on Lap 229, sending both into the wall. Dixon – Last and First in Detroit Indy Car Weekend

Josef Newgarden, driver of the #2 Hitachi Team Penske IndyCar Chevrolet V6, won on Saturday, during the first of two weekend Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix races on Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan. The win solidified Newgarden’s spot – for the moment only – as the top driver in the point standings. Rossi, Dixon, Pagenaud and Sato all drive like a series winner. Continue reading →

Honda Fastest in Practice for Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix

Driving the No. 27 NAPA AUTO PARTS Honda, Rossi navigated the bUmPy street course at Belle Isle Park in 1 minute, 15.1367 seconds (112.595 mph) to record the best lap among the day’s three practice sessions. As an aside, Belle Isle would have reverted to an urban slum garbage dump if not for racing sponsorships and some deft behind the scenes maneuvering by the Penske family. Continue reading →

Pagenaud Driving a Chevrolet for Penske Wins Indy 500

It truly was a Memorial Day Classic, having survived Tony George’s best attempts to kill the race with the ill-fated Indy Racing League fiasco. Nonetheless, the series, which used to dominate the sports pages during May is now only one racing event alongside the F1 Monaco Grand Prix (Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes-Benz) and NASCAR’s 600-mile Charlotte race (Martin Truex in a Toyota won).
