American Honda Motor Company (NYSE: HMC) said today that it posted a May 2026 sales increase of 9.9% at 148,903 units, with year-to-date sales reaching 623,139. Honda hybrid-electric vehicles set a new monthly sales record of 42,583 units, led by the CR-V hybrid setting a new May sales record, accounting for 54% of model sales in May, with Accord at 50% hybrid mix and Civic sales at 31% hybrid.*

“A strong lineup of affordable and fuel-efficient vehicles powered American Honda to strong May sales results,” AHM said.

Honda Sales Highlights

  • Honda brand sales totaled 135,688 units for the month, up 10.5% over May 2025, driven by sales of affordable and fuel-efficient passenger cars and light trucks, including record hybrid sales.
  • Honda passenger car sales topped 46,000 units, their best sales month in 5 years (July 2021) up 15.5% in May and 11.5% YTD. Civic led the way (26,995) with its best sales since June 2021, Accord scored its best month since May 2023 (18,688). The all-new Prelude (318) continues to achieve its sales goals as a low volume specialty model.
  • Honda hybrid-electric vehicles set a new monthly sales record of 42,583 units, led by CR-V hybrid setting a new May sales record, accounting for 54% of model sales in May, with Accord at 50% hybrid mix and Civic sales at 31% hybrid.
  • Honda light truck sales increased 8.2% in May, reaching 89,687 units, their best sales month since March 2025.
  • Light truck sales were led by CR-V with 45,141 for a record May, its 2nd best sales month of all-time and its 3rd consecutive month with sales over 40,000 units. CR-V hybrid also posted record May sales with 24,401 units.
  • Passport set a new May sales record with 5,689 units for its 2nd best month of all-time, putting the model up nearly 4% in May and 11% YTD. TrailSport models continue to account for over 80% of the mix.
  • HR-V had its best sales month of the year with 13,350 units, while Pilot posted sales of over 11,000 units for its 4th straight month over 10,000 units.
  • Odyssey and Ridgeline posted their best sales months of 2026, with Odyssey reaching 8,441 units and Ridgeline selling over 4,000 units.

Acura Sales Highlights

  • Acura brand sales totaled 13,215 units in May, up 4%, for its best sales month of the year, driven by strong sales of gateway models and SUVs – led by MDX.
  • Acura SUVs maintained strong sales momentum, surpassing 10,000 units with MDX posting its best sales month since December 2024, up 16% on May sales of 4,504 units.
  • Acura gateway models of Integra and ADX continued their retail sales leadership. ADX posted its best month of all-time, with May sales topping 3,100 units. Integra grew 67% in May topping 2,900 units, up 34.6% YTD, marking its best sales month since April 2023.
