New GM Pickup EcoTech3 V6 Rated at 24 and 22 MPG
The new 4.3-liter V6 engine used in the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra full-size pickup trucks is rated at 22 mpg EPA highway for 4×4 versions and 24 mpg for 2wd. This means they are competitive with – or better than V6 engines – used in the Ram, Ford F-150 and Toyota Tundra pickup trucks. Continue reading

Next Generation Chevrolet Silverado Pickup to Debut in December
Chevrolet will unveil what is calling the all-new Silverado 1500 full-size pickup on 13 December at a special event in the Detroit area. In a release, Chevy claimed, “bold exterior design of the new Silverado reflects the enhanced capabilities of the truck while features such as jewel-like, projector beam headlamps showcase the careful attention given to every detail.” Presumably, this also means a “bold new grille.” Continue reading

Silverado, Sierra Pickups Recalled Again for Block Heater Fires
The customer may notice smoke or a burning smell and/or poor block-heater performance, tripped circuit breakers or blown vehicle fuses, damage to the block heater, the heater cable, or engine components as well as block-heater coolant pooling under the vehicle. Dealers will disable the block heater. GM will provide free replacement block heaters and cords under a separate customer satisfaction campaign. For vehicles previously included in recall 19V-328, the heater cord will be replaced and rerouted, free of charge as required by law. Continue reading →
