Ford GT Returns. Le Mans Bound?
Ford would not confirm an endurance-racing program is underway, but it is virtually certain. Ford’s twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 raced to three wins in its first season of the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship in 2014, including a win at the 12 Hours of Sebring, along with seven podiums and more than 15,000 endurance-racing miles. Honda Prevails in Rain Soaked and Sunny Houston Races
Honda-powered rookie Carlos Huertas won Saturday’s opening race of the Grand Prix of Houston “double header” Verizon IndyCar Series race weekend, taking his Dale Coyne Racing machine to an unexpected victory in an 80-lap event that featured constantly changing weather conditions.
Simon Pagenaud and Mikhail Aleshin turned a tough loss in Race 1 into a podium in Race 2. The Schmidt Peterson Motorsports teammates finished 1-2 in the 90-lap battle on the 1.634-mile, 10-turn temporary street circuit. Continue reading

Jimmie Johnson, driver of the #48 Lowe’s/Kobalt Tools Chevrolet SS, won on Sunday in the Nascar Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan. John Bishop – Sports Car Racing Legend – to be Posthumously inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame
While with SCCA, Bishop is credited with creating the U.S. Road Racing Championship series, followed by the Can-Am, Trans-Am and Formula 5000 race series. Under IMSA’s sanctioning, Bishop introduced international endurance racing to North America in the GT series. Continue reading

Pagenaud in a Honda Wins Inaugural Grand Prix of Indianapolis
Starting fourth, Pagenaud avoided a multi-car crash at the standing start that eliminated his Schmidt Peterson Motorsports teammate, Mikail Aleshin, and fellow Honda driver Carlos Munoz, when pole-qualifier Sebastian Saavedra stalled at the line, resulting in an eight-lap caution period to begin the race. If anyone was watching, the prolonged yellow no doubt sent viewers to the real action of Major League Baseball or the Stanley Cup playoffs. Continue reading

At the fourth race of the 2014 F1 season in Shanghai, Renault – which provides the Lotus team’s V6 hybrid power unit, the Energy F1 2014 – was written in Mandarin (雷诺). It didn’t help.
