More Ford Safety Recalls on Bronco, Explorer, Maverick SUVs

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) is recalling 2023-24 Bronco, 2020 Explorer and 2024 Maverick SUV models, according to documents released this morning by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Affected vehicles with various safety defects include Bronco child safety locks, previously recalled Explorer rearview cameras, and Maverick fuel tank leaks or potential fires.

Dealers will inspect the Bronco child safety locks and replace the rear door latch, as necessary, free of charge as required by US safety regulations. The left-side rear door may be opened from the inside of the vehicle when the child safety lock is in the “ON” position. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed 16 April 16, 2024. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 24S15. NHTSA recall 24V189

Ford is also recalling 2020 Explorer vehicles because of a poor electrical connection, the rearview camera may intermittently display a blank or distorted image. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, “Rear Visibility.” Dealers will replace the rearview camera, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 8, 2024. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 20C19. NHTSA recall 24V188. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA recall number 20V575.

Ford is also recalling some 2024 Maverick vehicles because the fuel tanks may have an open pinch joint between the two molds, which can allow fuel to leak. Owners are advised to park and shut off the engine immediately if a fuel leak is detected or the Malfunction Indicator Lamp illuminates. Dealers will replace the fuel tanks, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed 18 March 2024. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 24S17. NHTSA recall 24V185.

Owners of all these Ford models with safety defects or any other Ford Motor brand may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
