Porsche 919 Hybrids One Two at Nürburgring. Toyota Trounced

Over the weekend, 62,000 people saw a repeat of Porsche’s one-two result at Le Mans in 2015, the third major success for the young team. For ex Formula One driver Mark Webber, it is the first WEC race win. Porsche has extended its lead in the manufacturers’ world championship 33 points ahead of Audi and 95 in front of defending champion Toyota. Nissan has withdrawn entirely after laughable efforts. Volkswagen dominated the Rally Germany. Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia’s (F/F) are the first duo to win the rally in a German car in the current WRC era. The Wolfsburg-based manufacturer – put in business by the allies after WW2 – also finished second and third with Jari-Matti Latvala/Miikka Anttila (FIN/FIN) and Andreas Mikkelsen/Ola Fløene (N/N). WEC at Nürburgring Sees Toyota, Audi and Porsche Battling

The race in Germany starts the decisive final stage of WEC. Within the twelve weeks, the last five races will be held in Europe, North America and Asia.
