GM Canada to Build Next-Generation Truck V8 Engines

General Motors Canada (NYSE: GM) said today that it is investing C$691 million in its St. Catharines Propulsion Plant to support production of the sixth generation of General Motors’ V8 engine, which will power GM full-size trucks and SUVs. Yesterday, GM reported strong sales and earnings for Q1 2026 bolstered in part by sales of such vehicles. GM Canada Walks Together on Coldest Night of the Year

This year, GM Canada raised more than C$80,000 to support local charities, including Start Me Up Niagara, United Way Oxford’s Ingersoll Transition House, and The Refuge Youth Outreach Centre in Oshawa, helping deliver warm meals, housing support, social work services, and emergency assistance to individuals and families facing immediate need during the coldest time of the year.

Because of hundreds of employees and dealers, GM Canada has become a significant supporter of the Coldest Night of the Year, helping raise hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years to fund critical services for individuals facing hardship across the country. Continue reading →

GM Canada Leadership Change – Jack Uppal new President

General Motors(NYSE: GM) today announced the appointment of Jack Uppal to president and managing director, GM Canada, effective 1 February 2026. Uppal is currently president and managing director, GM Africa & Middle East. Uppal has more than a decade of international experience in China, India, Singapore and the Middle East. He will report to senior vice president and president, GM North America, Duncan Aldred. The latest Canadian shuffle comes on month after the appointment of Kristian Aquilina, formerly president and managing director, GM Canada, to vice president of global Cadillac, effective 1 January 2026. Aquilina reports to Duncan Aldred. Aquilina had continued to oversee GM Canada operations.
