Ford Stays Number Two in May Sales Ahead of Toyota by 6,000

Toyota Motor 2012 Results Down 31% to $3.6 Billion Profit

Toyota Motor posted results for Fiscal Year 2012 ending 31 March that saw its net profit decline to ¥283.56 billion or $3.6 billion. A strong recovery in sales and earnings in the second half of the fiscal year was not enough to offset a poor first half, which was hurt by natural disasters in Japan and Thailand, which disrupted production. April Sales at Toyota Motor up 12%. Honda and Nissan Flat

The strong April sales performance at Toyota Motor Sales brought it to within a rounding error to surpass a slumping Ford Motor Company for the Number Two ranking in U.S. auto sales. TMS was only 1,614 units behind Ford Motor, according to numbers from the consultancy AutoData. Continue reading

Volkswagen Group Posts Record Profit of €11.3 Billion

Volkswagen Group is now the second largest vehicle maker in the world behind General Motors Company and just ahead of Toyota Motor Corporation, which struggled to maintain production because of natural disasters last year. GM earned a record € 6.78 billion ($9.1 b) in 2011; Toyota – on the Japanese fiscal year that ends in March of 2012 had profits of €1.50 billion (¥162.5) during first 9 months. Continue reading

Toyota Cuts 2012 Forecast as Yen and Thailand Floods Hurt

Toyota Motor Corporation today drastically cut its fiscal year 2012 forecast based on the ongoing negative effects of the strong Yen and the production disruptions caused by the Thailand floods. Toyota Loses ¥33 Billion in First Half FY 2012. Scraps Forecast

In North America – Toyota’s second largest market – vehicle sales totaled 689,000 thousand units, a decrease of 352,000 units compared to the same period last fiscal year. Operating income decreased by ¥84.4 billion to ¥61.5 billion, including ¥15.6 billion of valuation gains/losses on interest rate swaps. Operating income, excluding the impact of valuation gains/losses on interest rate swaps, decreased by ¥109.8 billion to ¥45.9 billion. Continue reading

Mixed U.S. October Sales Results for Japanese Three. Toyota Sales Down 8%. Honda Sales +3%. Nissan October Sales +18%

Acura, Honda’s luxury label, posted sales of 11,115, an increase of 4.8% versus October 2010, with year-to-date sales of 100,261, compared to Infiniti’s 79,000. This means that natural disaster battered Lexus with ytd sales of 153,739 of cars and light trucks – virtually all of which are made in Japan – easily retains the Japanese luxury vehicle sales crown, but it will displaced from luxury sales leadership for the first time in more than a decade by BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Honda Struggles, Toyota Flat and Nissan Up in August Sales

Japanese Sales: Toyota, Honda Down. Nissan up Slightly in July

There were varying results for Japanese sales in the U.S. sales race in July with Toyota and Honda posting double digit declines while Nissan increased sales from July of 2010. Toyota Predicts Another Sales Gain in 2011 on Asian Boom

Toyota Motor Corp. said in Japan today that it expected strong sales in Asia to cause Toyota’s second straight year of sales growth in 2011, tallying 7.7 million vehicles, up 3% from 2010.
