2016 Chevrolet Cruze Debuts in Detroit
The new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze is a design hybrid too, but it is a much better execution for U.S. customers. In the United States, Cruze sales were 273,060 in 2014 – a 10% increase compared to 2013. It is also the segment’s second-best seller to customers under 25 years old in the U.S., and it has doubled share here from the 2009-2010 period when the old Cobalt was being replaced by the current generation Cruz. No reason why Cruze sales will not keep growing, unless GM gets greedy on the introductory pricing. Continue reading

Gen 9 Malibu Debuts in New York
The main selling point aside from sleek styling appears to fuel economy with the hybrid version at a GM-estimated 48 mpg city, 45 mpg highway, 47 mpg combined; now leading the segment. The Malibu’s standard 1.5-liter turbo powertrain is projected at 37 mpg highway. (We will see for how long these numbers impress since the technologies used are well-know and available to all makers.) Continue reading
Toyota and Lexus to Introduce Low Cost Automatic Braking
From a significance point of view the new Lexus RX – the crossover SUV built from the Camry in the last century that caught the Detroit Three and the Germans napping and ultimately propelled Lexus into the number one spot of U.S. luxury car sales is the one to watch. Early previews reveal a radically style fastback that aside from the now expected and highly controversial exaggerated snout grille, seems to trade off utility for flash. Continue reading
