Volkswagen to Pay Dealers $1.2 Billion over Dirty Diesels
Volkswagen Group of America says it has reached an “agreement in principle” to settle the claims of 650 VW franchise dealers in the United States relating to TDI vehicles affected by the dirty diesel fraud and other matters about the value of the franchise. Volkswagen will make cash payments – estimated at $1.2 billion – and provide unnamed “additional benefits” to the dealers to resolve past, current and future claims of losses in franchise value. NHTSA Requires Rental Car Companies to Fix Open Recalls

FCA US Eliminates Use of Non-Desiccated Ammonium Nitrate Takata Air-bag Inflators
Unsold vehicles that are so-equipped will be identified for customers. These customers will also be advised that the vehicles will be recalled in the future. They are not currently subject to recall. Lawyer Plagued? BMW Sued for “Faulty” i3 Electric Vehicles
The crux of the lawsuit is about the BMW i3 “Range Extender.” This so-called Rex option, uses a two-cylinder, 34 horsepower gasoline engine that switches on when the battery charge drops to 5%, providing another 70 miles of range.
