Chrysler Group Posts Q2 Net Income of $619 Million
Chrysler Group today reported preliminary financial results for Q2 and the first half of 2014, including net income of $619 million for the quarter, up 22% from $507 million in the year-ago quarter. Chrysler net revenue for the Q2 was $20.5 billion, up 14% from a year ago. Continue reading

Chrysler Group July 2013 U.S. Sales up 11%
It was the best July in seven years as Chrysler Group today reported U.S. sales of 140,102 units, an 11% increase compared with sales in July 2012 of 126,089 units. Jeep, Dodge, Ram Truck and Fiat brands each posted year-over-year sales gains in July compared with the same month a year ago. Chrysler Group May 2013 U.S. Sales Up 11%
Chrysler Group today reported U.S. sales of 166,596 units, an 11% increase compared with sales in May 2012. It was the Fiat controlled group’s best May sales since 2007. Jeep, Dodge, Ram Truck and Fiat brands each posted year-over-year sales gains in May compared with a year ago. Year-to-date, Group sales are up 9% at more than 752,000 vehicles. Continue reading

Chrysler Group U.S. Auto Sales up 21% in 2012, Outpacing Overall Market Growth
Chrysler Group today reported U.S. sales of 152,367 units, a 10% increase compared with sales in December 2011 of 138,019 units. It was the group’s best December sales since 2007 before the Great Recession. The Chrysler, Dodge, Ram Truck and Fiat brands each posted year-over-year sales gains in December compared with the same month last year. December was Chrysler Group’s 33rd-consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains. Continue reading

Bailout Benefits Multiply as Chrysler adds 1,250 Detroit Area Jobs
Chrysler Group will invest nearly $240 million to increase engine capacity and add about 1,250 new jobs at several southeastern Michigan plants. Chrysler Group Posts Q2 2012 Net Profit of $436 million. Modifed Profit $755 million
Actual net income or profit was $436 million, an $806 million improvement from the $370 million net loss in the Q2 last year that included a $551 million charge for repayment of Chrysler’s Canadian and U.S. taxpayer subsidized loans. The loans allowed a bankruptcy restructuring in 2009 that ultimately saved thousands upon thousands of jobs at Chrysler and its suppliers. Combined with taxpayer money pumped into General Motors, Ford and Nissan, under various stimulus actions, the bailouts or subsidized loans saved the U.S. auto industry. Continue reading
Chrysler Group February 2012 U.S. Sales Up 40% as the Strong Comeback Continues for the Fiat Controlled Automaker
in February every Chrysler Group model posted a year-over-year sales gain, where the comparison was available. The Chrysler brand led the way with a 114% increase. The Fiat brand finished its first year of sales with its best month ever. Sales of the Fiat 500 were up 69% in February compared with the previous month. In 2011 Fiat sold 26,000 vehicles in the U.S. after predicting 50,000. Continue reading

Mopar Debuts Third Factory Built Hot Rod off Chrysler 300
Still working its muscle car roots, the Mopar 300 has a 363 horsepower (hum the Charger was 370?) 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine and a now dated five-speed automatic transmission. A change from a 3.06:1 to a 3.91:1 final-drive means zero-to-60 mph times in the low 5-second range, according to Chrysler, same as the Charger. Continue reading

Chrysler Group Reports Q3 Net Income of $212 Million
Chrysler results stand in contrast to Ford Motor, which yesterday reported third quarter 2011 net income of $1.6 billion, or 41 cents per share, a decrease of $38 million, or 2 cents per share, versus third quarter 2010 on revenue of $33.1 billion, an increase of $4.1 billion from Q3 2010. Ford Q3 2011 pre-tax operating profit was $1.9 billion, or 46 cents per share, with an operating margin of 4.8%. Chrysler remains the smallest and weakest of the Detroit Three with limited international operations. Still, Chrysler is clearly on the mend. Continue reading

FCA Emissions Fraud: Accountability or Accountancy?
Whether this accountable enough or not is subject to debate. Critics say that this is just cash register justice whereby wealthy corporations buy their way out of criminal trouble and recover the costs through ongoing operations. Defenders point to the amount – a $300M criminal penalty – along with the organizational probation where FCA will be monitored for its regulatory behaviors. There are also outstanding individual criminal cases.
