NHTSA – Consumer Alert for Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid Fires
The potentially affected van production began on August 12, 2016, when production of Chrysler Pacifica PHEVs began, and ended on August 7, 2018, when 2018 MY production ended. The suspect population was determined using vehicle manufacturing records. Similar vehicles not included in this recall are not PHEVs or were built after the suspect vehicle production period. July 4th Fiasco as Chrysler Group Issues Four Recalls
Late in the day before the U.S. July 4th holiday, the Fiat-controlled Chrysler Group issued statements on four separate safety recalls. This obvious ploy to minimize damaging publicity about the its latest quality gaffs came as the Center for Auto Safety renewed efforts to have NHTSA crash test a proposed fix covering Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee SUVs for fuel-system fires. Chrysler Finally Agrees to Fix Jeep Fuel Systems after a Long NHTSA Probe and Formal Recall Request
Chrysler Group will recall 1993-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2002-07 Jeep Liberty vehicles, it announced this afternoon. The reversal follows two years of investigation and a recent disagreement on 4 June between Chrysler and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, aka NHTSA, when Chrysler refused to recall the vehicles. NHTSA appears to have stared down the Fiat-controlled company in what was a growing public relations disaster. Continue reading

Multiple Ram Truck Recalls Active at Chrysler Group
Chrysler Group is recalling 2012 and 2013 Ram trucks for three different safety defects, according to NHTSA documents just made public. The recalls are for defective headlamps and taillights, as well as a bad weld affecting the front driveshaft. The latest safety defects come shortly after Chrysler Group refused a NHTSA request to recall almost thee million Jeeps for an allegedly defective fuel tank design. Continue reading

Chrysler Recalls 2012 Ram 1500 Over a Decal
The affected vehicles have a spare tire that does not match the specifications listed on the tire placard. These Ram pickup trucks fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110, “tire selection and rims.” Continue reading

Chrysler Recalls 300, Dodge Charger Sedans for Bad Brakes
The cars can lose the ABS/ESC system due to an overheated power distribution center, which could lead to loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. The problem original arose in a Michigan State Police training vehicle, and Chrysler conducted a limited recall in February of 2012 until subsequent field reports revealed the Yazaki supplied module was failing in other vehicles. New Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300, Ram ProMaster Recalls
Chrysler (FCA US or Stellantis) is recalling ~285,000 2018-2021 model year Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 vehicles. Chrysler is also recalling certain 2021-2022 Ram ProMaster vehicles, according to documents released this morning by the National Highway Traffic safety Administration.
The Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 is potentially more urgent because the right and left side curtain air bag inflators may rupture due to a manufacturing defect. The sudden rupture of the inflator due to stress cracking from moisture could send shrapnel into the interior, potentially causing serious injuries. Continue reading →
