WEC: Toyota Wins in Bahrain
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all those who supported TOYOTA GAZOO Racing in the World Endurance Championship this season,” said Akio Toyoda, President, Toyota Motor Corporation. “Going to Le Mans to be together with our team in our fight there this June resulted in a personally and truly frustrating experience. And I am aware that our performance in that race brought frustration to our fans, as well. Other grueling races followed, and, amid it all, we learned of Porsche’s planned withdrawal from the WEC. After last year’s Le Mans, Porsche recognized us as a rival. By battling it out with such rivals as Porsche, I think we were able to heighten our technical prowess, making us faster and stronger. As we went up against Porsche, all our team members, including me, had the same thought in our hearts: we hate to lose.” Continue reading

Porsche has had great runs at Le Mans recently in the top LMP1 class, and historically in other classes as well. During 2015 and 2016, its Le Mans Prototype 919 Hybrid took overall victory in Le Mans and won the World Championship titles for Manufacturers and Drivers. Continue reading

Bahrain – Audi One, Two. Porsche Wins Drivers’ Title
In its last race in World Endurance Cup, Audi dominated Bahrain by taking the first two spots on the podium. However, the new WEC driver world champions, Romain Dumas (FR), Neel Jani (CH) and Marc Lieb (DE) in the #2 Porsche only came in sixth after contact with another car early in the race. Porsche Dominates Le Mans and sister Group Company Audi
Victory in the 83rd running of Le Mans was decided between Audi and Porsche on Sunday morning when things were wrong for Audi. This prevented it from taking its 14 victory at the La Sarthe circuit in front of 263,500 fans. Porsche basically led from the ninth hour on. Continue reading

Audi Hybrids One-Two at Le Mans. Toyotas Crash, Break
In a 24 race marred by accidents, two Audi diesel hybrid P1 cars took first and second at the 24 hours of Le Mans, with a another Audi in third. A Toyota-powered Lola took fourth, boldly inserting itself ahead of the fifth place car – another Audi diesel, but not good enough to prevent an all Audi podium. All four Audi R18 cars could have won what became the brand’s eleventh Le Mans victory in front of a claimed 240,000 spectators. Continue reading

Silverstone Foul – Toyota Gazoo Racing Hands Rebellion a Win
The two Toyotas were found to be in non-conformity of Article 3.5.6.d of the 2018 LMP1-H Technical Regulations which covers the deflection of the skid block. Toyota intends to appeal the Decisions and therefore the race results remain provisional. Continue reading →
