February Global Light Vehicle Sales Up 11% at 6.5 Million
The drop in SAAR – seasonally adjusted annual rate – is from a deceleration in the Chinese market in February, affected by the Chinese New Year and the termination of tax incentives in 2022. Both the North America and Western Europe markets saw YoY improvements in performance when compared against a weak 2022, while Eastern Europe continues to suffer YoY negative growth. Continue reading

LMC posits we must look at why the market has dropped 5 million units below the 2017 record. A recent blog entry entitled 2019 Review highlights some of the challenges faced by the auto industry. Chief among them are developments in China, with a protracted hangover from the temporary tax cuts of a few years ago, disruption coming from the launch of State VI-compliant vehicles (which varies region by region), along with a slowing economy. GM Global Vehicle Sales at 7.2 Million Vehicles through Q3 2015
The global sales leadership race between General Motors and Toyota, Volkswagen and General Motors remains too close to call as GM sold 7.2 million vehicles during the first nine months of 2015 a decline of -3%. Toyota Motor’s global sales for the same period totaled 7.498 million vehicles, off -1.5%, but still enough to best Volkswagen Group at a flat 7.43 million vehicles. Continue reading

Global Light Vehicle Sales up 14% in July 2013
While global light vehicle sales slowed during July, the selling rate is still ahead of year-ago levels with a Seasonally Adjusted Annualized Rate or SAAR at 82.2 million. In the U.S. during July, sales were once again strong, with a SAAR of nearly 15.8 million, an increase of 14% versus July 2012. Continue reading
